Becoming A Member of SGS

Prospective members must be Diplomates of a member Specialty Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties and must be interested in and actively involved in female pelvic and abdominal surgery. By approval of the Executive Committee, distinguished physicians and surgeons who hold membership in foreign societies equivalent to the American Boards may be proposed for membership. Application for membership can only be made after the applicant has attended an Annual Meeting of the Society and requires the proposal and endorsement of members of the Society who are in good standing.

Acceptance for membership in the Society occurs via a three–stage process: Application for membership by the prospective member, acceptance for candidate membership following review of the application by the Membership Committee and the Executive Committee, and induction into the Society by affirmative vote of the Society following presentation by the candidate of a scholarly work at an Annual Meeting of the Society.
